NOTICE: Important Changes to Garbage Collection
Effective March 15, 2020
The Galveston County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (the "District") has contracted with AmeriWaste Solutions, Inc. ("AmeriWaste") as the new solid waste (trash) collection and disposal company effective March 15, 2020. All residences and businesses within the boundaries of the District and/or within the corporate city limits of the City of Dickinson are required to utilize the services of AmeriWaste.
Beginning in the month of March 2020, the District will be billing directly for residential and light commercial accounts using ninety-six (96) gallon carts. Residential and Light Commercial accounts utilizing the commercial cart option will be billed through your water bill. All Light Commercial must, however, call or email AmeriWaste at (281)585-3200 or WCID@ameriwaste.net to complete the required documentation. Light Commercial shall mean any structure generating not more than four (4) ninety-six (96) gallon containers of commercial refuse or solid waste during a calendar week.
AmeriWaste will be billing Commercial and Industrial accounts directly for all Front Load Services. Completion of the required documentation in a timely fashion will insure no interruption of services. Please call or email AmeriWaste at (281)585-3200 or WCID@ameriwaste.net .
Residents within the limits of City of Dickinson but outside of the District's water distribution system will need to set up a "garbage only" account by March 1, 2020 in order to receive trash collection without interruption. To set up your account, please fill out the Garbage Only Account Form and submit it to the District. This form will be posted on the District's website. For those unable to download and mail, these forms will also be made available at the District office. Office hours are Monday - Thursday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Please call or email the District at (281) 534-8344 or SolidWaste@wcid1.com.
