Dickinson, TX – Dickinson Water Control and Improvement District (WCID) issued a limited boil water notice Thursday, Oct. 23, for the Bayou Village subdivision and nearby businesses due to a line break in the area. The Starbuck’s at 402 W. FM 517 was closed, while other businesses remain open.
As required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), we are advising all affected customers to boil their water prior to consumption to ensure it is safe for drinking and food preparation.
The district notified households by posting a sign at the entrance to the subdivision and distributed door hangers to households.
Patrick Donart, Dickinson WCID general manager, said, “The district has submitted water samples for testing. We will continue to update the public and notify customers as soon as the water is safe to use without boiling. We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers.”
Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
Customers will be informed via social media, the district website and door hangers when the Boil Water Notice has been lifted.
