Galveston County Water Control and Improvement District #1 (WCID #1) and the Gulf Coast Water Authority (GCWA), our community’s wholesale water provider, have issued their 2023 annual water quality reports. WCID #1’s 2023 report shows that our drinking water meets or exceeds all federal and state standards and is safe.
In 1996, Congress amended the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to require all community water systems to provide to their customers an annual water quality report (Consumer Confidence Report or CCR). The CCR gives consumers information about the quality of their drinking water.
The CCR summarizes information that your water system collects to comply with federal and state regulations. It includes information about the source(s) of water used (i.e., rivers, lakes, reservoirs, or aquifers), chemical contaminants, bacteriological contaminants, compliance with drinking water rules, educational health information, and water system contact information. These reports are also known as annual water quality reports or drinking water quality reports.
