The Public Utility Commission’s rule in Title 16, Chapter 24 Texas Admin. Code § 24.173(d) prohibits GALVESTON COUNTY WCID #1 (the “District”) from imposing a late fee or from disconnecting your retail water or sewer service for nonpayment of bills that are due during an extreme weather emergency until after the emergency is over.

The WCID #1 is proud to support Dickinson Art Guild’s community art project by sponsoring a Great Blue Heron sculpture. The Great Blue Heron by artist Jeanne Nelson is displayed outside the district office on FM 517 East. Each heron sculpture represents a donation to the preservation of the bayou, funding for future arts programs, and the general welfare of the city.

The WCID #1 Board of Directors has approved a water and sewer rate increase beginning in November 2022. The average customer using 5,000 gallons a month will see an increase of about $8.75 a month. The rate was needed to fund rising operating costs due to inflation, pay competitive salaries, increased bond payments from 2012 bonds, and cost of water meter replacements district-wide.

WCID #1 is changing the way it lists charges on its water bill so that customers can see what they are paying for water, sanitary sewer, and garbage collection services.

Be aware of phishing attacks. The district will never email you asking for any of your credentials. These are malicious attempts to steal your passwords and/or personal information. If you have received any of these, please delete them immediately. The district takes cyber security seriously.
