Galveston County WCID #1 is working in partnership with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) to develop a Hazard Mitigation Plan. The public is invited to attend and provide input at its kick-off steering committee meeting.

Galveston County WCID #1 and the Gulf Coast Water Authority (GCWA), our community’s wholesale water provider, have issued their 2023 annual water quality reports. WCID #1’s 2023 report shows that our drinking water meets or exceeds all federal and state standards and is safe.

As part of annual, routine system maintenance, the Gulf Coast Water Authority (GCWA) will temporarily change its water disinfection process from a combination of chlorine and ammonia (chloramine) to chlorine only April 8-May 6, 2024.

WCID #1 is advising customers about how to prevent payment scams after water utility districts in other parts of Texas have reported fraudulent activity targeting customers, particularly those with commercial accounts.
